      To mark the 120th birthday of Mao Zedong, large scale film “This Land So Rich in Beauty” Seminar was held on 22nd February in Beijing. Member of standing committee of the National People’s Congress, deputy director of Science, Education, Culture and Sports Committee General Tang Tianbiao, member of standing committee of the National People’s Congress, deputy director of the Law Committee General Hu Yanlin, member of standing committee of the National People’s Congress, deputy director of the Financial and Economic Affair Committee General Zhao Keming, deputy director of the Research Center of the Party History of the Central Committee of the CPC Long Xinmin, party group secretary and concurrent executive chairman of China International Cultural Communication Center (CICCC) Long Yuxiang, staff members who took care of Mao Zedong in his old age Zhou Fuming, Wu Liandeng attended the function.

    The film “This Land So Rich in Beauty” is co-produced by CICCC, Beijing Xiran International Cultural Media Group, Beijing Hongmen Yaxuan Cultral Media Co. Ltd. It aims to reproduce on the screen moving stories of Mao Zedong inspecting the country and going to the masses after the founding of the new republic. Mao Zedong’s glorious image of a great leader of the people is to be painstaking portrayed; and as the founding father, his actually practice and great contributions to the newly founded republic, his remarkable achievements in revolution and in the building of communist society are to be meticulously depicted.

       At the first stage, leading creators of the film crew carried out enormous historical research and material collection in order to positing the subject matter and making clearing the main conception of the film. The first draft of the screen script was started on this basis.

       Attendees of the seminar agreed that to make “This Land So Rich in Beauty” at a time of the 120th birthday of Comrade Mao Zedong would be of particular meaning. The solid foundation forged by the veteran socialist revolutionists before and after the founding of the People’s Republic of China proved to be an indispensable prerequisite for promotion of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Therefore it is of practical and historical meaning, absolute necessity to praise the touching deeds carried out by first generation leader under Mao Zedong in their managing of the administrative power, in their devotion to the state, in their heroic stories to care and serve the people. The film is made to show that they are the most excellent bearers of the Chinese traditional culture, to show their sublime manner and inexhaustible charm, to recall their remarkable achievements and lofty poise, to push further forward the party’s fine style of seeking truth from facts as well as keeping to the style of hard struggle and plain living, to depict the sound approach of the leaders of the party to share weal and woe with the people, linking their hearts to the people. The film is of important and remarkable subject matter, of rich content and based on historical truth. It is designed with exciting plots and artistic appeal. It will be of deep and profound influence in the undertaking of mobilizing and guiding all ethnic groups across the whole nation to unite under the leadership of the Central Party Committee led by Comrade Xi Jinping. It wishes to play it part in the collective endeavor of the whole country to struggle to build a relative comfortable society and to realize the great national rejuvenation of Chinese people. Tiang Tianbiao, Hu Yanlin, Zhao Keming, Long Xinmin expressed their views on how to improve the script, how to shoot the film and how to distribute. Standing committee member of the National People’s Political Consultative Conference and former director of the Central Party Committee Documents Research Office Teng Wensheng offered his special writing suggestion to the seminar. Renowned actor Lu Qi, staff members who took care of Mao Zedong in his old age Zhou Fuming, Wu Liandeng actively made their contributions to the discussion too.
