Long Yuxiang meets with President of Wilfrid Laurier University Max Blouw from Canada

     On 22nd January 2013, party group secretary and concurrent executive chairman of China International Cultural Communication Center Mr. Long Yuxiang met with visiting President of Canada Wilfrid Laurier University Dr. Max Blouw. The two sides talked about issues about cultural and educational communication. A joint statement on cooperating exchange and school running was signed at the meeting. Head of the Communication Department of CICCC Mr. Xiao Ping together with headmaster of Beijing Canada International School Peng Jianhua attended the event.

       Long introduced the general situation and future plan of educational development in China. He said that the relationship between Canada and China have enjoyed considerable development over past years. Fruitful new results have been yielded in various and many fields of two nations. Favorable communication and cooperation have been carried out in international as well as local affairs. Diplomatic ties between the two demonstrated great vitality and potential for further development. Long stated that CICCC was more than willing to push forward deeper and more extensive cooperation with its Canadian counterpart to share and advance educational value and educational resources. CICCC would strive to be a bridge and a model to connect and inspire schools across the globe to communicate and cooperate with one another. Long went on to state that cultural exchange had been serving as an important link among different peoples of different countries and civilizations. Culture functioned powerfully as the rain does to the earth and plants, which would transform things gradually in silence. CICCC would continue to act as the ambassador to spread Chinese traditional culture and good will. The organization would also continue to work hard to contribute more to cultural communication and collaboration between its host country and the rest of the world.

      Dr. Max Blouw said that the Wilfrid Laurier University always paid great attention to international artistic development and progress. Students and teachers of the university showed sustainable and great interested in western music. They attached particular importance to traditional music of different nations, and to the exchange and development of their music heritage. The university had worked together with Minzu University of China. There are more than 100 students of the Wilfrid Laurier University acquired solid musical basic knowledge and skills. Dr. Blouw hoped that his visit would further enhanced cooperation in artistic field between China and Canada. General situation about the Wilfrid Laurier University had been introduced by Dr. Blouw. He said that the university boasted a long history of more than 100 years. It was a public university which enjoyed high prestige among the people in Canada. There were colleges of arts, of science, of music, of education as well as business and economic in the university. Among them, the business school was regarded as one of the best and well-known business schools in Canada. It was the biggest business school which offered paid internship for its students. The music college of the Wilfrid Laurier University also hosted the first class music hall, exercise hall and workhouse for its students. He claimed that although there were huge differences in term of the way of running a university and so on, nevertheless they all have their merits. He hoped that exchanges with regard to educational experience between the two sides will be further strengthened and scale of cooperation widened in the future. In doing so he wished greater achievement will be attained. Through exchange the two sides reached an agreement that they would work continuously and actively to move cultural exchange forward to a more comprehensive, balanced and sustainable degree. They will further attach greater importance to promote prosperity and development in aspects such as education, culture as well as economy. They believe through joint effort exchange and collaboration between two countries in terms of education and culture will be greatly enhanced and more fruitful results were well expected.
